Rear passenger doors freezing shut

There is a rubber seal around the rear passenger doors that fits over part of the wheel wells - to keep small debris from getting into the crack I suppose. This seal can get covered with slush that is thrown onto it by the tires and can freeze solid. When that happens it is difficult, sometimes nearly impossible, to open the door - mine have been frozen shut most of this week! Anyone else have this happen?

Try spraying the rubber seals on the door and the door frame with silicone spray. That should prevent them from freezing shut and also prolong the life of the seals.

I take it that you don't have a garage and park outside?

That kind of screwed me during hunting season on my 4th gen. I learned the hard way to spray them down.

I park outside all day in various places (spend much of my day on back-woods roads and parking at trailheads or just beside the road or wherever, sometimes for hours at a time), but also just have a carport at home so it freezes up there too. Been doing it for 40 years and never had a door freeze shut though!

This works! and applies to the 1gen. Tacos as well. I believe it is meltoff from the gutterless rain gutter.
