Rear Seat Question

I've noticed a rattle from the rear seats in my TE. When I check the seat latching I've got about 1/4 inch of play forward and back for both sides which is where my rattle is coming from.

Is this movement standard when the back seats are latched? I'd think the seats should be firm with no play in them. Is there an adjustment or is this normal?

I havent noticed any rattle coming from there...my seats are latched firmly and they dont wiggle.. But I will double check tonight without my kids car seat in it....maybe that adds weight to the seat and keeps it in place.

The seat backs. The bottoms are fine but the backs move forward and back around 1/4 " or so. When I put them up and into place they latch but don't feel like they are fully locked in. I've tried reclining them a bit but same movement.

Both of my seat backs and seat bottoms are s****y. Check to see if the seat backs are clicked into to place

From my post above, I do not know why the word S T U R D Y is being blocked from being shown.:dammit::gun5:

My seat backs move just as you describe when they are supposedly locked in place. I've always wondered why they did that.

Are you positive they're latched? Maybe a little extra force to verify successful latching is in order? :)

Yep, if I slam them any harder I think the seat will break. It appears the latch on the side of the vehicle that the seat locks into has a little bit of play in it.

My sr5 with leather has the same play in the seatbacks. They don't rattle though when driving. I'll take apart one of the reclining mechanisms and see if it can be adjusted

Thanks for the responses guys.......I couldn't see any adjustments where the seat latches. Also tried reclining while trying to relatch and still the same. I'll check with the dealership next time through.

I did notice the play in the latch this weekend but mine doesn't rattle. Do they rattle when all three seatbacks are in place or only when 1 or 2 are down?
