Rear shock bolt wont loosen or tighten

My rear lower shock bolt won't loosen or tighten. What can i do to get it out to replace with a new bolt?

be careful not to snap it as it may be rusted pretty well in there. pb blaster or another break-free type product from the local car parts place should help. really helped me out doing my suspension but took soaking and patience.

snapping that rear one would be tow truck time unless you could get some out to fix it at your place.

Have you stripped the bolt?

Spray it with PB blaster/ liquid wrench for a few days, hit it with a hammer and chisel to break those threads loose (not damaging the head or anything else), use an impact with a 6 point socket - alternate loosening and tightening until that ***** gets loose.

Reinsert with anti-seize.

I had the same issue with mine when I was trying to replace the upper shock bushings. so I took it to the dealership and had them do it. that way if it gets snapped or striped in the process they have to replace the shock.

The bolt is already stripped......

Grab it with some vice grips and pull on it while trying to loosen it, you might be able to get some threads to catch and start coming out. Stripped bolts are a ***** regardless.

are you talking about the top bolt or the bottom bolt.

If it's top, just cut the shock shaft.

If it's bottom, all of discussions above.
