Rear Shocks/Coils (Icon and SAW)

Can the rear components be interchanged? i.e., Can Icon shocks be used with SAW coils?

The reason I ask is that I have noticed the Icon coils which are rated for 2" give over 3" of lift, and have not settled in the last few months. Can I safely swap the coils with SAW coils which are rated at 1.5", but still use the Icon shocks?

Icons in the rear. As you can see, it is not 2", but more like 3.5".

first, i'd check to see if the rear coil is seated properly. when i installed mine, it took a little tweaking to have it sit properly into the pocket.

the main function of the shock is to control the rebound of the spring, so check saw's website about the rate. good thing springs are relatively cheap. . if it is within 50lb/in you should be ok.

Josh, here's some pics. I will have to check my notes to see if I still have the measurements, but it appears that it lifted it similar to yours.

That's what I was thinking. I am debating pulling the trigger on some 285's in the near future, so we'll be able to compare much closer after I do so. I also think that the 3/2 cornfed's settle closer to a 2/1, which makes the comparison shots look more exaggerated. I had the OME on there before the Icons, and it lowered the back a little compared to the OME, which is also supposed to only be 2", but gave me around 4" of lift. That's why I swapped them out for the Icons...they made the rear WAY too high.

Mostly for the cosmetic factor that it lifted higher than it should have. But yes, the higher you go, the ride generally will decline, and become stiffer.

Depends what route you go. Spacers will be less than $300. Going my route will be close to a grand for the front coilovers, and about $400 for the rear shocks/coils.

I went Sway-A-Way in the front. If you were to get Icon coiovers, they are $1050 per pair.

In the back I have Icon shocks/coils. Going with Sway-A-Way there will cost you around $650.

Either Icons all around or SAW front/ Icon rear will be cheapest.
