Rear Speakers for a 91 4Runner

I see where I can replace these with either a 5-1/4" or 6-1/2", based on information at Crutchfield but is one or both a direct drop in replacement for the factory speaker? Any modifications needed for a 6-1/2"?

I've found directions, online, on how to install a new head unit. Does anyone know where I could find directions on the install of the rear speakers?

If you're putting in the same size speakers it's pretty easy. Remove the panal to get to the speaks, remove the old ones, and put in the new ones. As for bigger speakers, you're going to have to take a look at what you're dealing with to determine what's needed. You can do a few things, from a thin sheet of plywood to fiberglass work. It's all up to you.

I have two Pioneer 6x9's in the rear of my '90. They fit quite nicely, tho the previous owner cut out the panel to install the speaks I replaced. I am really considering trying to mount mine back behind the panel so they don't get kicked out, like the old ones did.
