I removed my 98's rear spoiler today. I put the screws that mounted the spoiler back in the three holes, stepped back, and was not feeling the new look. I like the spoiler gone, but I do not like the unclean look of the screws sticking out. Is anyone aware of some sort of plugs that could be applied, or any other option? Thanks for your time.

I never liked how all the 3rd gens had black spoilers-but you will see it is a necessary item if you drive dirt roads.
So I wanted a custom look-I had my son do this up for me at his high school auto body class.
You may like your spoiler if it matches your paint ....or not, just an idea...

Good idea with the color match. Looks smooth and unique, way too go on getting that pic up. I have been noticing how precip seems to build up easier on the back window w/o the spoiler. When summer kicks in, the dirt roads up in AK get pretty knarly.
Since I posted the first thread I have been driving w/o the spoiler, showing the six screws. An idea I had was to install reverse lights where the spoiler mounts. This might be a bit much for my skill and the look of the rig, but its function could help. I haul a two place snowmachine trailer all winter and a bit more light would help. What do you think?

Ummmm I have a hard time visualizing exactly what that would look like but it sure sounds like it would work.
I have seen people add supplemental back up lights and or brake lights for trailer usage. Typically they mount direct to the rear of the roof rack on the vehicle body but I do not see why they could not mount on the hatch surface-that way you could re-use the holes already there. You could copy the holes from the deflector supports and make up a template for the mounting plate and attach to that.
Cedric have you seen any of the 4th gen rear spoilers on a 3rd gen? To my mind that is the best look you can obtain and still retain function. Also some guys here were entertaining the thought of a Japanese model spoiler with a flip down back end mirror to better show the immediate area behind the rear bumper-think of a small child parking a trike behind your ride below eye level.

I always thought a gold package on a truck was a bit silly-mine came that way but I would never pay extra for some gold trim. That's me-no offense to you guys that go for that look-but that is street and I am offroad inspired.

If you pull your spoiler, and leave the bolts / holes, I will point and laugh. I've got a 2nd gen (w/o factory brake light), and shaved the spoiler / wiper for a cleaner look. Fairly easy job, but takes time to sand and fill. I will say though, removing the spoiler changes the airflow back there, and lets WAY more exhaust fumes come in when the back window is down.

This old thread reminds me of my dead truck. Oh well... Removing the spoiler changes the air flow. He's probably saying you'll get a lot of dirt on your window, or in your truck (if the rear window is down). Similar to what I said about exhaust fumes coming into the cab with the spoiler gone.

Yes, exactly right SanDiego Undead-the airflow is changed down the back window without the spoiler in place.
On dirt roads with the back window closed and spoiler in use- no dust will form on the back window. Regardless of the color...
