Rear Spring Options

I was going to go with the Toytec Superflex rear coils on my 2009 limited with some Bilsteins and air bags for when carrying loads. I've already got the air bags and shocks... and then saw the Metaltech 4Runner Rear Long Travel Coil Springs with the loaded top. Anyone run the metaltech's and care to comment on their performance. Looking for articulation and ride and thought with the airbags, when loaded down I could just adjust for the load... but the simplicity of the metaltech design got me thinking.

I've seen more than 1 person on this forum move from superflex to Metaltech coils while noting a performance increase. I'm sure some of those people might post, but I'm happy with my Metaltech coils. Note: they used to make a 2" and 3" lift version, now they only sell the 3" so you realistically won't be able to completely level-out your truck.

And also won't be able to run the 3" lift metaltechs with the 5100 rear shocks, they are not long enough and will clunk when topping out all the time.

You could check out Icon 2" lift springs and still use the airbags, I ran those on mine for a while and the ride was great except for when fully loaded for week long trips I wanted more height to match the front.

Also Dobinson springs on here but there's a lot to choose from, good if you know what you want but could be confusing. Talk to Mike and he'll get you sorted.

I can't speak to the metaltechs, but I'm running super flex and bags and am please with the ride. They're labeled as a 2" lift spring but prob give closer to 3". I'm not sure what my original measurements were but I measure 38.75" from ground to fender at center axle on my 06.

I'm personally not a big fan of bilstein, had to replace the set on my dads with less than 15k miles on them since they blew the seal out and lost their charge. Luckily I had a spare set that are less leaky. They are also very short and more fitting for a stock height truck.

Another spring to look at is the dual rate dobinsons. I'm considering trying those out. But I woild strongly recommend the metaltech springs and almost any shock besides the 5100s.

I have Dobinsons dual rate 675s and would like to try out MT LT coils to see if they yield just a little more height. Wanna trade? Lol
