I have 95 4Runner 2wd, I am mechanically inclined and was wondering how hard it is to replace the rear springs? Also what equipment would I need and any other suggestions? Thanks

All you need is a jack, jack stands, basic hand tools and a bit of beer. If you're replacing the worn out springs you may want to look at your shocks. They're super easy to replace, two bolts on each shock.

It's easier to replace the springs if you have two people. One person to put downward pressure on the wheel (to create room for the new spring) and the other person to install the new spring.

ok sounds good, i didnt know if there was any special tools, like a coil condenser or something...btw nice profile pic! lol

A coil spring compressor might come in handy, but it isn't always needed.
Defenitely consider new shocks while your under there.

When I threw LC coils under mine, a spring compressor was VERY handy. I think you can get away without it with stock springs because they aren't very tall.

I recently did mine. You can "rent" a coil compressor from Advanced Auto. You buy it, but then they'll give you your money back when you're done with it. I did the shocks at the same time too.

I just jacked the rear of our 4runner up and put it on huge stands. Then used a floor jack to drop the whole rear assembly. Unbolt the sway bar and shocks, then lower away. The springs basically fall right out. Put the new springs in, raise the jack and button everything up. The MOOG springs I installed where a huge improvement over the originals. They handle a weight load exceedingly well.

I appreciate all the info! i have several things that need to be fixed on mine, so hopefully ya'll wont get tired of my posts. I ordered my MOOG coils today, got them off ebay for $70 and some change for the a set of two. will get the rear shocks soon.
