rear storage, my version

So this is my cargo box build. I used lightweight 1/2 inch MDF, probably could have gone with thinner but now I realized it can still support a good amount of weight on top of it. glue and brad construction. I painted it with spray rhino liner (truck bed liner), as I figured it would take a beating, it holds up alright. I put handles on the sides for easy removal. the lid stays open with straps from D-rings on the lid to the hooks on the ceiling. pics say the rest.

Very well done!

Did you use Rhino Liner on the inside too but in different colors, or is the inside painted with something else?

Thats pretty awesome and the first I have seen like that how exactly did you secure it to the slide out tray.

Very nice! Question...How are those 'straps' secured when the top is not connected. I see them just hanging in the one photo, do they swing around and tap the glass when you drive?

Nice job Seansy! Is that attached to the slide out tray?

Can you expound on your CB/HAM(?)radio setup over the passenger seat also?

Tnx! :hungry:

Thanks yall!

@coldryder - I used rhino liner everywhere except under the lid - random red paint. as it heats up, the lid sticks a bit, but I figured rhino to rhino might stick worse

@Sells,B-Mike - No slide out tray in mine. I sized the box to fit right up to the rear seats.

@westwind - those were mini bungies, I still haven't perfected the strap function. I would keep them in the box when not using. recently I've wrapped wire to the d-rings and just loop them on the ceiling hooks. still tend to slip off. I may rig something to the ceiling hook bolts.

@B-mike - Its a CB. you can see the wire going out the passenger door (to a magnetic anntenna). I have 2 large suction cups attached to the CB and I stick the CB to the sunroof. I only put the CB in for road trips, at least til I get around to hard wiring. still debating. see pic.

Interesting CB set-up...whatever floats ur boat I always say! For one antenna idea check out ANTMANS thread.

I believe there's one or 2 more threads on CB's - I'm not sure myself now! Do a search and see what pops up! :fishing:

oh and I added some vinyl to the lid for shiggles, I had an extra print from the one I got for my roof rack
