Rear suspension heeellllpppp!!!

Okay guys, I ordered some sway a way coilovers today, and I need a rear suspension to match. I'm planning on bilstein 5100 shocks because I've run them before and really liked them (and they're dirt cheap), and I CANNOT decide on springs. I have read and read and searched, and called Toytec, and haven't found my perfect spring.

I want 1.5-2" lift, I will be running 265/75/16s and love powerslides in the dirt so I like a lower COG. I called Toytec and the guy recommended the OME 906, which are 2" lift, but he says with 4 people in the truck and some gear in the back, they will be pretty much loaded down past capacity. Anybody have experience with these?? I'm really looking for probably a medium duty rear spring but don't want more than 2" lift. Does this exist??? Or if you could just tell me the 906 handles a little extra weight pretty well that is probably what I'll buy. Any other brands to look for? Icon? Swayaway? SS?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've always been a truck guy and leaf springs are a different ballgame than coils, so I'm new to all this.

Also are there any OEM springs that fit that would work? I have considered some '99 4runner springs with maybe a .5 or 1" spacer? FJ? LC? I don't want as much lift as the LCs give I don't think though.


Edit: I may just order some of the '99 highlander springs, and maybe run a .5" spacer with them or something. Or maybe just run them. I will have the C/Os sitting pretty low, so it might be right.

For ~2" you are pretty much looking at 906's, 99 tall w/ spacer or a spacer with your stock coils. You can always get the 906's and throw a trim packer in the back to lift it up a little more and offset the sag with people. The 99 talls will sag quicker with the spacer and will sag will people. Just go with the 906's and test them out. If you are not satisfied throw a trim packer in there to lift it a little more.

Good News!!! A medium duty spring with 2" of lift does exist! It's the 906.

They will handle weight pretty well. If you are towing and loading the hitch heavy, then yeah, you want more, but if you can fit it inside, these will be fine for you.

The 906 has a spring rate of 220#
The 891 has a spring rate of 210# (just for comparison)
The stock coils are 160# (including the 99 talls)

The 906 will probably be your best bet.

Spring rates are always a compromise on something.
Soft (160#)- rides smoother, compresses under heavy loads, flexes great
Stiff (300#)- rides harsh, carries heavy loads with less squat, flexes less
Medium (200#-220#)- firm ride, carries weight well, flexes well
