Rear Suspension

After reading all of the threads I could find on Rear Suspension and Lifts I have one question.

If you lift the rear 3" do you need to do anything to the prop shaft, diff, or trans. case?

I have a 1996 T4R that I need to replace the rear suspension on. The shocks are pretty well dead and the springs are sagging. So I was thinking of putting OME 891(? the heavy duty ones) on when I do the suspension. But I couldn't tell if that would cause any other problems.

The shop put new front struts on when they fixed the ball joint (the struts were circa 1996, I'm hoping the rear shocks aren't). I have oversize tires on it already (courtesy of a previous owner) and eventually want to put proper front and rear bumpers on it.

Note: The line in the second pic is drawn from uppermost lug nut to uppermost lug nut and then shifted up to the top of the fender flare.

You don't need to do anything. Just put the new springs and shocks in and reattach your panhard and you're good to go.
 
You should rotate the axle to bring the rear pinon angle back close to 0 degrees. Driveshafts that have a double cardan joint at one end need to have the single cardan joint as close to 0 degrees as possible. 0 degrees being straight. Yes you can get by without doing this, but you will go through u joints and are likely/have the possibility of vibrations from the rear driveshaft.

The fix is either upper or lower adjustable control arms. I put in a 2.5" lift and did not fix the rear pinon angle. I managed to destroy a Spicer U joint in under 5000 miles.

Could someone enlighten me on this matter? It's the first time I've heard of this.

Might want to think about an extended rear brake line as well. I'm good on U-joints and haven't altered or adjusted anything but installing the 891's and 1.5" spacers. But the 0 Deg deal is sound logic.
