Rear sway bar

Hello!
When I got my 4Runner, the rear sway bar was removed.
Even on mild turn the Skid goes off (trac or VSC I believe) *beepbeepbeepbeepbeep*

I still have the bar and I bought all the "necessary" parts to reinstall it.
However my truck being lifted, I am not sure about the hanger/arms that attach the bar to the car are not long enough?

Thanks!

They will work. It may be a little tight depending on how tall it's lifted. Before I took mine off, it was lifted close to 5 inches in the rear and it was fine. It might help to flex out each side to attach the links, so it's not such a stretch.

When you say flex out each side, do you mean use a floorjack to lift the car and get each tire at max length away from the car?
also Do you prefer to have the rear stabilizer bar off? if so why?

Just get some longer rear links. I am running 2nd Gen rear links and they are perfect for my 7 wraps.

Yes this is what I thought, however I do not know where to get such an item. For an old man emu lift, would that be the place to get the hangers (or rear links as you call them)?

Thanks both for the responses.

I mean the exact opposite, jack it up to get the tire/axle as close to the link mounting point as possible. Do it on each side, it'll make it easier to mount the link.

Having the rear swaybar off is up to you. If you don't have it lifted the affects of it off won't be as bad. Personally, I don't think the lean is bad.

Read this, it'll help you.

If you are lifted, I'd go with what Shadow said and get bigger links and throw it back on. People take the sway bars off to get more flex. If you don't care about more flex, put it back on. It's as simple as that.

Sweet info! thanks. ohh so you mean the tire will be hanging from the car, this way I can find the max length of the 'endlinks' mounting point correct?

Check junkyards for 2nd gens, they are everywhere. They are called endlinks.

And your VSC was going off becuase you need to do a zero-point calibration after lifting..

Oh man that is just what I was looking for!
MAN why don't we just start to worship you around here already XD

Thanks again both!

All I'm saying is it is easier to connect, when the 2 mounting points are closer together. Think if you were installing a rear shock, you wouldn't want the axle flexed out on the side you were installing it. It would just make the lower mount and upper mount further away from each other, and the top threads of the shock probably wouldn't even touch the mount...

It looks like you are already lifted. I'd just go with the 2nd gen links as the others have said. No point in installing small links if you can just get bigger ones.

dont waste your time at a junkyard. They will probably be rusted out. I have a used set I can send you that have only been on my rig a year if you want to swap links.

I'd be interested in the event the OP happens to pass up on these per your offer...

Sorry to (once again) reincarnate an OLD thread...
but this past weekend, my rear stabilizer bar broke!
The one side is hanging down under the vehicle.
I haven't noticed any difference in ride or handling...
so I am wondering how concerned I should be about fixing it?
Obviously, I want to take care of it, but my budget always sucks in the Spring.
Any idea on how much the repair/replacement would cost? (average)
And idea on what bad things could happen if I wait?

thanks in advance

Mike
