Ok, after reading a bunch on the forums, it sounds like the frame of the 3rd gen may not be strong enough for hard wheeling with all this weight in the back. I have heard the 2nd and 4th gen runners have more reinforcement from the factory. I am working on just buying the bottom from Steve over at CBI. I have also heard, there is a way...a way.. to mount that big 33" tire under the back. it takes some Fab work, but Steve from Sonoran says he can make me a special mount. it's custom work but hey, why not?
He has a freaking 35" tire tire mounted underneath. Wow. I just need to figure out his Gas tank skid..
Ok, Brian, do you still wheel yours hard? I am anxious to get feed back on how it is holding up with all the weight back there.

Haha, well I got sorta lucky - I got rear-ended and insurance $$ bought my bumper. I still have the dent though, but that's a good trade off IMO.
I still wheel mine a lot and will until the end, but I don't have the bumper yet so we'll see how the frame holds up. I'm not worried about it, lots of guys have swing-aways on their 3rd gens. The tow package is intended for a lot more tongue weight and stress than a swing-away will ever put on the frame. If I planned on towing with it a lot I would probably reinforce the frame a bit.
The 3rd gen's frame isn't boxed for the last 2 ft. or so which may be why they say it's not as stong as the 4th's (I'm not sure, but I don't think the 2nd's is boxed in the rear so I doubt it's any stronger). The 2nd's factory swing-away was body mounted so that's definitely not as strong as mine will be. Regardless, boxing the rest of the frame wouldn't be very hard, or you could put a cross bar type of thing to beef it up a little if needed (in fact IIRC, that's what Chaplain did - the guy whose pic is at the top).

I wheel mine hard with my swing away and dont have any issues and it is only the last 8" s that our frames arent boxed(why you need the nuts on a bar to bolt up the tow package). still get some frame flex but not at bad as Taco's or other trucks. I fit my 33" under the truck without any modifications. To fit a 35 you will have to do what Steve did and re-work the entire set-up. Will post a link to my build thread once I find it again.
