edit: why is your rear bumper not flush with the body? i know you have the rb bl but i thought the rear bumper mounts move up with the body

So whats the bit that sticks out towards the drivers side for? I assume its a handle or something. Hows the rearward visibilty?

Lee-okay you have us all drooling over that rear bumper and tire carrier setup you had your friend do. I have seen similar units in the neighborhood of $1k or more. Is that reasonable guess of what this one cost you?

Is your friend interested in building more? He does fine work from what your photos show.....

he doesnt have time to do this on a reg basis, so he does it for his friends he is an awesome fabber, one day i am sure he will have a real shop and i will be there to help him create this stuff.

if i was to sell everything right now considering everything is reinforced to the utmost, including the use of very good steel (3/16ths plating on the main bumper for example), id sell it for $1500 easy.

lets just say it barely cost me 1/10th of that thanks to the steel being free.

Lee -your friend most certainly will have an successful shop doing
the excellent work you have shown us with your photos. I think pricing at around $1500 would be right in line with the market.

Ok, someone school me real quick. I come from a track car background, so the whole off-road thing is kind of new to me.

Why is this necessary? Ground clearance? Will the bigger tire not fit in the stock spare tire mount location?

It definately looks cool, though.

awesome piece of fabricated steel

the bumper improvement alone is significant-the Toyota stock bumper works fine for street applications but leaves a lot to be desired for offroading. This bumper is beefy, thick steel and serves as a mounting point for a rear winch application or recovery points for winching. The tire carrier is to move the spare from the underbody stock location, which should improve departure angle. The swing out design of the carrier allows easy access to the liftgate of the vehicle and a nice touch is the lighted license plate holder.

first the main bumper was made, which gave me better clearance and protection than the stock tinfoil crap.

i threw the tire on a surco rack but that killed my gas mileage and added a lot of wind noise and i was too tall and slammed it into trees and had to stay out of parking garages in the city.

so i threw the tire in my cargo area.... well thats a 33" tire, it takes up a LOT of space. so this solves that problem
