My truck has been talking to me for a few weeks now. I could feel a shudder and excessive rear end noise-typically at speeds over 50mph.
Also my first stop of each day is a "clunk" I was suspecting the drive shaft needed lubed up- but like an old fool I just kept ignoring it.
Today while going to meet Ron Maiden for lunch I had so much vibration I could not make out the image in the rear view mirror. Luckily? I was right near the fine dealership of Stevinson West Toyota.
They checked it out and it was the rear U joint failing. Though I could likely save some money babying it back to home and over to Irbis, I am taking my lumps and having it done here as I type.
I'm avoiding the temptation to test drive the new Trail Edition...think of all the money I am saving!!
I have to admit there are worse places to be stranded. I get to play on provided laptop-print a coupon to save some green-and check out the clientele....I mean the vehicles yeah that's it.
Moral of the story-listen to your truck. Do not put off today what is bothering you...it will be more expensive. As my father always said "A new noise needs checked out" and he's right once again....
Get your zerk fittings greased routinely-I had neglected mine over the last few oil changes.
