Rear view mirror with compass and auto dim install

I am going to be installing a mirror with compass and auto dim and I have a few questions. Will it work to power it up with the map lights? And if so, how do i take the map light/sunglass holder down? Thanks for the help!!

Yes and I believe you just have to get under it with a flathead screw driver and gently pry it out

also, if it is possible to wire it through the map lights, which wires would I use?

Installing compass mirror

I installed it on my 2006. If you buy if from Toyota (about $100) it comes with instructions to connect it to a hot wire located on the drivers side kick panel (distribution block) so it is hot when the ignition is on. If you connect to the map lights I think it will be on all the time and put some drain on the battery.
