Rear whine/noise

I have started to notice a whine noise from the right rear when driving. At this point it is relatively faint, noticable at 30ish mph increasing with speed. I have adjusted the parking break back to make sure its not rubbing and the rear calipers appear to be working fine. There isn't any shimmy or problems braking and the noise does not subside when I am braking.Anyone have similar experiences?

My thought is to replace the rear calipers first.

05 4R V6 SR5 4wd. Almost 100k.

Sounds like it may be a wheel bearing based on your description. Check for play by jacking that side up, grasping at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions and push/pull.

I had this problem on my 03 before I traded it in, sounded like it was coming from the rear dif

Could be tire noise. Verify inflation. Rotate tires to see if the noise moves with the tire.

After that: Bearing noise starts out as a rumble that gets louder with speed increase. Frequency stays pretty much the same.

Diff/gear noise increases in frequency with speed, sometimes gets louder with speed too. Gear noise in the ring and pinion is usually specific to either pulling or trailing throttle, but ultimately will be both especially if it's caused by lack of lubrication.

How many miles? Do you tow much or heavy? Ever changed the fluid in the differential? Good gear oil isn't expensive, and except for the wonderful fragrance, changing is is a relatively simple process.

I thought I had a problem on the rear wheel, sounded like yours. It was a front wheel bearing. You don't hear it before 30+mph

Well...

I did change the diff fluid, it was on my list. Still making the noise. Next up I am going to grease all of the joints.

I will check the 12 and 6 play as well.

The tires are relatively old, probably will be going to get some new tires in the next 6 months or so...

Till then I will keep poking around seeing if I can find any other explination.
