Rear window help please identify these wires

So i bought this 89 4runner in august 09 and the rear window did not work. I pulled the rear panel off and found these two wires black and red exposed with the ends cut. I untaped the harness and found the black wire is spliced and connected to the ground wires for the back door unlock warning switch. The red wire goes all the way to the rear defogger on/off switch. Please if anyone knows where the other ends of the wires are supposed to go help me. Whether it be missing connectors somebody cut off or whatever it is. Thank you

The black and red are for the defroster, black to ground and red the the defroster relay

The defogger wires attach to the rear window. Depending on the year, they either attach to one side of the window, or attach at opposite ends. I don't think polarity is important.

Ok so for sure it is defogger wires? I found a connector on the driver side (rear) window and only one black wire was sticking out of it cut of course. So the red wire goes to the relay what about the other end? Other side of window? Also the rear defroster switch lights up when turned on and i can hear a clicking noise coming from the rear window relay box when switched from on to off. Is this possible even though the wires are cut?

Ok, so I am resurrecting a REALLY old thread hoping the OP sees this and has some more info on this! My new-to-me 86 has the same thing. Red and black wires cut. Mine and just dangling, not connected to anything. Someone in some forum must have recommended this as a good hack for something? Anyways, I am trying to restore this thing and I am trying to get everything working as it did from the factory.

little late, but it turned out those wires were for the defroster. There is a tab at each end of the glass on the bottom.
