rear window! only goes down with key fob

hI I need help i have 99 sr5 190k runs and looks awesome love it will never sell :jump:. one day over the summer I noticed rear window went down so I thought must of pushed key fob rear window button so ok when I open the truck turn the key and pushed the rear window botton swicth to raise it had nothing!! it worked the week before that day.. so i took the door apart and got to the window motor I used a car batt with homemade wire and nail and put it directly to it a wham worked awesome the damm window went up. the windows goes down with oem key fob and goes up when i used electricity directly to the lift motor. I belive it is the window swicth in the dash board but the damm thing worked the week before so i have no clue! i disconnected the wire so window motor has no power coming so it doesnt happen untill i can work on. well summer is almost here again cant wait and want the window to work 100% like it suppose too but really dont a clue or where to start! wondering if anybody had this problem or any body has an idea where to even start thanks

You might have pressed the lock button on the driver's side console. When you press that button to stop the passengers from rolling down their windows it also locks the rear window button on the center console. Alot of people make that mistake. Try that... that's probably your issue right there. You can buy me a cold beer later as thanks.

No kidding? I never noticed that the window lock button will also lock the rear window. Of course there's never small children in my 4R so why would I need to know that?

Great timing on this... I just went to Lowe's and had the rear window down so I could haul a 4x4.
I used the fob to put it down with no problem. I get home unload the 4x4 and go to put the window back up and nothing. I hit the switch a bunch of times and start cursing thinking the motor or fuse went out. Its been raining here in Florida so I was not amused.
About 3 minutes into it I remember I had my windows tinted last week and hit the window lock to keep my girls from rolling them down. Hit the switch and bingo the rear window is back up.

Rear Window Switch

This was good timing for me also. I was ready to start taking things apart. Phew ! It's always a good idea to check the Forum and do your research before repairing anything to your 4Runner. Kudos to the people that responded ! :bravo:
