Rear Window Rack MOLLE

For those who have installed the rack in a 5th gen:

How much space is between the bottom of the rack and the deck of the cargo area? I'm thinking of getting one and I also want to put a storage box in the cargo area. I want to make sure there is at least 13" remaining so that a 12" box can fit under the hanging rack.

got it today. 2.5 weeks from order... not too shabby. I will get it painted and installed this weekend

ordered the driver side, got it in a bout 2.5 weeks, primed it, painted it... went to install it.. DOESN'T WORK W/3RD ROW!!!!! No mention of that in the group buy or their website

Did everyone install the front spacer with cutting off a 1/4" of it, mine just arrived and it seems like i would have enough thread left to just install it...

How does it mount on the bottom on the website doesnt show anything. Of its possible can you post pictures like that it could help people with 4th gen. And how did you order the passenger side on their website they only show driver side. Thanks for the help
 
Installed mine this weekend.

Fit and finish and the powder-coat are great.

I too had to trim the main bolt spacer. I also added a couple washers to the compression leg to keep it as tight as possible.

I think there is an opportunity to further increase the strength/carrying ability of the rack...

At the end of the rack, nearest the tailgate, there are two plastic "tie downs" in the 4 runner. Those easily pop off and have a large bolt behind them.

Perhaps a bracket can be formed to extend from that bolt and then forward and behind the rack with cutouts for securing with a washer nuts/bolts like the top bracket.

That would prevent the forward force of a hard brake maneuver from rotating the rack away from the side where the compression leg has no effect.

There to supposed to be a bolt/spacer that screw into the forward mount and a compression spacer on the rear that presses against the panel. What I did was trim the spacer and ran the bolt through and I wound up getting another spacer and running a bolt through that as well. It adds a lot more support to the overall strength of the rack.

So I initially received the drivers PSD and it did not fit. I emailed Darrel who called me and told me he had found out that weekend the 03-06 4runners had a different mounting spot than the 06-09 models(which these racks are made for). I ended up measuring various lengths (see pics) and he was kind enough to PC and send out not just the driver but passenger side rack as well. They don't fit 100% like I want them but they will work and they do the job well. I will have to see if the blue grows on my or I might just have to get them PC black. Darrel has been great and I highly reccomend them on their product and customer service!


On a separate note..... I have 06-09 4Runner driver side PSD for sale if anyone is interested!

I was thinking the same thing. I used a small bungee from that hook to the PSD for now but was thinking about trying to build a bracket.

I'm with y'all, the top bracket and front lower bolt-thru spacer are not enough to keep the panel solidly in place. i had to cut about 1/4" off the bolt thru spacer to catch threads, which pulls the rear end even further away from the wall and made the rear spacer too short to "wedge" in between. ended up drilling a hole and putting a hex-head screw with washer thru the side panel by reaching up into the jack compartment.
(be warned, these pics are terrible...)

So apparently they're not making the passenger side for the 4th gen anymore???

Plus $150 shipped one state over?
