Rear Window Rattle

So up til today, when I drove my friend t4r, I thought it was normal for the rear window to rattle, or freely move backwards and forwards when it wasn't closed. Well her's was silent and didn't move at all when it was down, so that must mean mine is broken. Today I took the rear panels off of my hatch to gain access to the internals and noticed that the sleds inside of both of the tracks in my hatch were 'loose' (not sure if that is the best word to describe it). Has anyone else run into this and found a solution? The only thing I can think would be to purchase new sleds but I'm not even sure if that would fix it.

Mine does the same thing, but only when I close the tailgate with the window down. Or if I move it by hand. Does yours move when driving and rattle? Hopefully someone has an answer because I feel like the window is going to shatter like that.

Man when I close the hatch and forget the window is partially or fully down it just smashes back and forth within the gap the window slides up and down through. I think its gonna shatter sometimes too. I can also move it with my hand. It mostly rattles if I go over a speed bump in the road or some kind of sharp bump, then it will rattle momentarily.

yep, mine has play in it too. It rattles pretty bad when it's down at all. I would love to get rid of the looseness...

If no one has a solution for it in the next few days I'm gonna slump over to the stealership and see what it would cost for new parts to replace those sleds

someone broke the key cylinder in on mine so thats my rear hatch noise so I cant tell if my window is making any noise. On the bright side if I lock my keys in the car I can get in using my little finger.

sorry to bump an old thread, but I recently took the cover panels off my back hatch area to see if i could "tighten up" the rear window. Mine flops around and is loose as hell when it's down. Anyway, from what i can tell, there is NO adjustment possible. There is a big white plastic guide in the middle that keeps the glass from hitting the regulator mechanism, but other than that there are no guides, bushings, or anything to hold the window other than the two tracks or rails on each far side of the glass.

So to summarize, it seems like the rear window flopping around inside the tailgate is that way by design....

hm.. bumping! anyone find a fix? my driver and passenger rattle quite a bit and im considering taking it apart to check it out. is it fixable with elbow grease or do i need to buy a whole new assembly? if anyone knows of a thread id appreciate it.:hail:

Are you talking about the rear window glass in the hatch? I think that was the focus of this thread originally.

Oops, got a little carried away when looking for window rattle. My apologies! I was thinking driver/passenger. Similar concept maybe? :sorry:

It's cool I doubt the hatch window rattle has a similar fix to the side windows. I have the hatch window rattle at times. I need to take things apart and see if I can find a fix.
