Rear Window Remote Up

Is there a way to roll up the rear window with the remote or do I have to put my key in the ignition and use the inside buttons? It is kinda inconvenient when loading/unloading through the window.

My 4runner isn't new enough to be able to roll the window down from the remote so i can't help ya there, but you can put your key in the rear hatch door key hole, like you are going to lock/unlock the hatch, except hold the key to the left/right for a few seconds and the window will roll up or down. It comes in hand for what you are talking about.
 
See my build thread. It is possible in a similar way as the link above. A new custom version is still in my queue, but may not get gotten to for a while.
 
Hatch window up with fob

I can't find a post on how to do this for 3rd gen. This thread ran dry for 3rd gen. The post above is for 4th gen, does this work for 3rd gen?

Is there a way to raise the hatch window with the fob for 3rd gen??

With all the 3rd gen mod'ers out there surely this has been done??

I may be mistaken but u can roll the window down with the remote, then u have to put your key in the back hatch and turn it to the lock position and hold it in place for a few seconds and it should roll the window back up. Feature should be on the 99 gen 3 and up
 
I think Toyota designed it that way is the only reason mention it. I mean rolling it up with the key in the rear hatch makes more sense then walking around to the front of the vehicle and putting key in the ignition, and doing it that way.

I would think the 4th gen hack shown above would work on a 3rd gen as well.
 
That was a good one JD914, you got me. But, I will explain this better:

Every time I use the remote to lower the hatch window, I wish there was a way to push remote and raise it while getting in the vehicle. I find it easier to close with button inside the vehicle rather than try to use the key in hatch, for example, if it is cold and dark outside I have to stand out there and hold the key till it goes all the way up and it would just be easier to raise and close the whole hatch door at that point. When I use inside button as I drive off, I smell exhaust fumes also.

Being able to push remote and have the hatch window go down was a really nice feature from Toyota, they did good on that part. But on the flip side, why did they not add the window-up mode from the remote also while they were going to the effort to provide window down mode?? It's sort of like having door lock close with remote, but then have to use key in the door to unlock doors. Sort of doesn't make sense.

The approch used by Nelsonmd above looks complex, I am not sure I am up for that. Has anyone else found an easier approch or tried Nelsonmd's method above??
 
Just curious if you have any suggestions if my window won't roll down via the FOB OR if the key is in the hatch! Just got my 05 4runner last week and I was so excited about this feature until I realized I can't get it to work *cries*

and no sir, my windows aren't locked

You should re post this in the 4th gen area since you have a 4th gen.
 
Reviving this post, for a good reason. I went through my back window and ECU last night and figured it out. Will be making write up with pictures. But I've done it is confirmed.

Teaser... I got it all wired up, and cleaned up. Got the pictures of how it all comes together and edited, got the sources for parts used, just have to sit down and type. Not too familiar with how to add photos and links an such so give me a day or 2 to figure it out and get it all formated real nice.

In the mean time, enjoy...

Definitely sub'd. Never understood why they made the ability to roll down, but not up. Maybe because they'd have to wire some sort of sensor as to not crush anything?
