rear window short/down by itself

I am surfing over at YotaTech and there is a posting regarding the rear window going down on it's own. Particularly when wet....

After dismissing the key fob accidently being pressed-it would seem this is a common and known problem.

Something about a short-I presume in the wiring at the back window.

Wanted to see what you all had heard about this

It rarely is wet out here in Colorado-but I have come out to my vehicle a few times to find the back window down-I just chalked it up to me bumping the button while the keys were in my pocket.

I doubt it was due to your keyfob since you have to hold the button down for a few seconds before it starts rolling down, and the keyfob doesn't have the best range anyway (mine doesn't).

I've never heard of this before. I don't have that issue on my current 4Runner or on my last one. My brother, couple of friends, all whom have 4Runners, have never had this problem.

Okay thanks for the more helpful thread pointer -I am not good at all of this Internet stuff-but you are teaching me....

I am okay at night-the truck is garaged -it worries me during the day when I am at work and the truck is not visible from my office windows, but your point is dead on accurate.

So I will add this to my list of potential quirks for 3rd gens....

Several people have had this resolved through the dealership, but I think they were all under warranty. They had to get the whole ECM changed out and that's an expensive project. You should talk to your local dealership anyway and see if you can get anywhere with them.

Theft is definitley the biggest worry, but also if it snows/rains/hails/etc., I'm sure you don't want to open your 4Runner in the morning or after work, to a welcoming shower of snow or water.
