Rear Window Up & Down via Remote

Now I've wanted to be able to put my rear window up and down using my remote for as long as I've had my Runner. I was pretty darn sure that this couldn't be done, so I gave up on that idea, but just a few minutes ago I was browsing the Audio & Electronics Forum and was looking at an install of an AVIC-Z1. While looking at the install, I noticed that in Wingman69's signature it says

Rear window UP & DOWN via remote

This prompted me to use the search function and i searched rear window, which turned up 4 unrelated topics from the last 2 weeks. Thank you awesome search function. Is this actually possible??? Any thoughts? A link where I can find this? Any thing would be great.

Excellent! but unfortunately it looks like he was able to do it cause of the alarm system that he installed in his car... I'm not really into putting a new alarm system into mine just to get the rear window to roll back up by the remote. I'd love it if it worked with the regular remote though.... Oh well. Thanks for looking!

do you mean remote as in keyless entry? my 4runner's keyless has a button to roll the window down, but i donno how you're supposed to roll it up without putting the key in the back and holding it to the right.

Yeah thats the only way to put it up besides getting in the car and pressing the button. I thought Wingman69 had figured out a way to put it up from the keyless entry remote, but what he did was replace the security system/keyless entry system, so he was able to then put the back window up and down from the remote that came with his new system.

Yeah, I think the missing UP function is a safety issue - keeps you from doing it inadvertantly with the remote while your kid or dog is sticking his head out the rear hatch!

Good call. I hadn't thought about that, but it makes sense. Yeah that could turn out badly if it went up at the wrong time...

The motorized tailgate closer is far more dangerous than the windows / sunroof that halt under obstruction.

I'm not sure if you all know this but another way to put up the rear window is to stick your key in the key hole and turn it to the right to raise up the window and turn it to the left to lower it. This also allows you to lock your doors as well. Took me awhile to figure this one out as well.

Not sure if you mean the rear door/tailgate auto latch closer or the rear window. The rear window has the same closing up obstruction safety as the other windows. The rear window halts and then retracts an inch if you try to force it closed (found this out by accident with a roll of carpet.)
