Rear Window

Hello,

I have a 2008 4Runner. Several times over the past four months, I have noticed my rear window down. At first I thought perhaps I hit the button to lower it by mistake but not a couple of times. This button is out of the way and would have to be a deliberate press to lower it. Any ideas?

faulty fuse maybe?

window could have slipped off track if you went over a speed bump or off-roading perhapse? Could always pull the panel off and see whats going on.

Like the first dude said, maybe a fuse is going ape shit or you could pull the tail gate apart and look at it. Or maybe the switch is messed up (got something spilled on it or just is failing) so the side that controls lowering the window keeps getting activated. Does it happen when you're driving or you just get to the truck in the morning and the window is down? You could always try disconnecting the battery to reset the system too. It's also possible your key/remote has an issue and keeps sending commands since it can roll the window down.

First off, I'm noticing a trend of 4th gen related posts ending up in the General Discussion Section, are some members not aware of the Generation Specific Sub-Forums? (This isn't a slam against Mods, just a generally curious observations)

That being said, it'd get more traffic by 4th Gen guys if it were in the proper section...

The rear window moduel may be frizting out, the keyfob may be getting sat on, the switch could be sticky (literally sticky I found mine was actually very stiff and tended to stick in place sometimes. So I took apart the center dash trim panel, removed the switch and cleaned it up well, now its buttery smooth.)

Here's a question, do the Auto Up & Down functions work? The module may have lost its memory somehow and the anti-jam feature may be kicking in? Does the window go ALL the way down or just a little bit?

The keys are in the steering column, its a far stretch to hit the button and i would think you have to hit it pretty hard to lower the window. A more deliberate press rather than brushing up against. Thanks, Bill

You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. if you want help be nice to people offering it. how would any of us know that you had the keys in the steering column?
figure it out on your own if youre not gonna take advice nicely

2006 4runner rear window

I have 2006 4runner Limited. The rear window opens by itself when I open the rear gate. The internal rear window switch working properly. I was not be able to find any post with this problem. Who can answer? Thanks.
