Rear windshield wiper

2005 v8 SE. When I turn the rear windshield wiper knob down to the spray and wipe setting, it only sprays, there is no wiping action. I took it to the dealership today and they are looking into it. Reading the manual indicates it should spray and wipe, not just spray. Just in case the dealership tries to tell me this is normal behaviour, I wanted to check with you other 4th gen owners and find out how your's behaves.

Thanks,

Yeah, looks like this is the way it is on 03- 05. They have "fixed" this for the 06s. They now spray and wipe in the down position too!

Oh well, now I know and knowing is half the battle.

Can someone with an '06 confirm that the rear wiper both sprays and wipes when the switch is moved down?
Also, can anyone provide the appropriate pages for the rear wiper circuit out of the '06 electrical manual? This might be a mod worth looking into to retrofit on a pre-'06. Hopefully it is just wiring and not the rear door body ECU.

Great idea! Hopefully someone will know.

My '05 does that too. Maybe its supposed to be like that. Why would the stalk have two positions for cleaning the window?? But then again, what would be the need to just spray washer fluid?? hmmm.

That's how it is on my '04 SR5.

How about '05 and '06? When did it change?

The function was changed in the 06 model. The dealership showed me on an 06 limited while I was there having them check my 05 out. Then they showed me on multiple 05 and 04 models that it does not work on previous 4th gens.

Now if only someone would figure out how to mod to to work like the manual claims it should!

Time to find the electrical manual...

Looking at pg. 185 of the '03 manual. Combination switch C14 causes the motor circuit to ground (and cycle.) Could be as simple as changing the switch on the steering column stalk. Can someone at a dealership confirm that the Rear Wiper Combination switch (that plugs into C14) changed in '06 vs. '03-'05?
