Rear wipe quality on 05

At 8,000 miles the only defect I could point at is that the rear wiper blade does not fully contact and wipe the glass during a wipe cycle -- just a few inches at the one end of the blade. Does anyone recognize the cause for this?

mine works fine. maybe you should have yours checked....

Cold weather its the suk. It needs a few wipes to flaten out. Don't know what else to tell you.

Rear wiper!! the part I truly don't like about my 4runner. I tried to wipe under it and darn thing broke. I had dealer replace the thing now i am careful.
The moulding that is sealing the window also coming loose. I should probably have that replaced before warranty is up.

If your balde is not contacting the glass fully it may be that something is jamed in plastic mechanism. Take the cover out carefully and wiggle wiper. Also use some oil for plastic.

Mine works fine at 36,000 miles, but I hardly use it. Has anyone noticed that the rear wheels kick up a lot of water onto the window, mine does.

Mine does that also sometimes. Usually when it is really cold and there is snow i am trying to wipe away.

My rear wiper broke off after my test drive. I guess hanging the tag off of it wasn't a good idea. I had it replaced after I took delivery of the vehicle. As far as wiping, it works great when I use it. Only have 2000 miles on her.

Sometimes the wiper doesn't make full contact. If you turn it off and back on, it will make full contact.

Even down here where it's warm, it can take a couple of sweeps before the blade begins to make full contact.

I had a similar problem with my new 05. I found that it wasn't hitting the window and when it did it was only on the top. I checked it and it was "stuck". I almost had to move it around manually. Note the wiper itself but the arm. When I did this you could tell that it was stuck a little bit and after that it has worked. It has stuck a couple of times since then but I only assumed that it was because it was new. Don't move the arm side to side, just back an forth. You will see what I mean. I think...
