Rear Wiper Blades

Does anyone know where I can get a rear wiper blade for my 1999 4Runner? I've gone to AutoZone and PepBoys. When you look up the part number, it's simply not there. I know I could go to Toyota, but I'd prefer not to spend 9 million dollars on a rear wiper.

Interestingly, I used to have the same problem trying to find a rear wiper for my 1985 Toyota LandCruiser FJ-60. I eventually figured out a work-around, but now I can't remember how I did it.

This is my first post on T4R.org I've owned my 1999 4Runner SR5 4WD since May 2001. It's quite simply the best vehicle I've ever owned. I loved my old FJ-60 LandCruiser, but the 4Runner is a far better "real world" vehicle.

you just buy the replacement rubber part from toyota for like 4 bucks, cut it to fit, and slip it in. so you don't end up spending 9 million dollars on the whole wiper blade. :

Most econ way to rotate/change blades

My favorate way to do it is every fall (rain only from nov~april in Cal) get new blade from Costco for front windshield driver side, then move the old driver side to passenger side, cut the old passenger side blade to fit the rear wiper.

you'll get a crystal clear view all the time (rain or snow)

New here and we just had to buy wipers blades for our "new" 4Runner last night. We have a 2001 SR5 and the book lists 17" as standard for both front wiper blades and 13" for the rear. All three needed to be replaced so we stopped by our local Wal-Mart.

Our local Mart only had 13" in an Anco wiper and blade assembly. It was just under $4, though (cheap, cheap). I noticed the weird assembly on the back of the 4Runner, so I just removed the blade from the assembly, including the metal reinforcing pieces, and installed it into the existing rear wiper assembly. The blade even has little metal teeth that hold it in the wiper frame. I do hate that I have to throw away a perfectly good new wiper assembly <shrug>.

For the fronts, 17" must be the most popular size. They only had a supply of 17" length in the TripleEdge wiper and blade assemblies at $6.88 per side. The blades are made of silicon instead of natural rubber, which (from previous experience) can chatter but I figured I'd give them a shot. They had a much wider selection in the 18" length and I usually go for the bigger blades, but I thought I'd stick with stock this go round. Hope this helps.

the 18 inchers will actually do a much better job for the drivers side. pass. side, they will hang off the edge (not touching glass) a bit.

I purchased my replacement blade (OEM) from partznet for $6.50.

You should check the dealer. I couldn't find a rear blade anywhere so I stopped by the dealer one day and found that they charged only about $7.50.

ok yea that seemed to be the easiest solution, i just went and bought the entire blade for $12

Dont mean to bump such an old thread but...

Roomies `01 had a 20 on driver and 17 on passenger. He bought two 17's, but took one back for a 20. Will this hurt anything?

Was actually looking for info on the rear as he measured it, bought a 13 and then couldnt figure out how to remove the old one. Then I read the info on the fronts and thought I'd ask...
