Rear Wiper Motor Problem

I have a 2000 Toyota 4runner SR5.
Recently my rear wiper started working only sometimes. After a while it stopped working all together. I was told thats its probably my wiper motor. I purchased a new motor, replaced it and still nothing. I checked the only fuse I could find for wipers, there was only one in the cabin. I made sure all the connector were connected. The only thing I could think of was if the rear window was not all the way up the wiper wouldnt work but its up and I can hear the relay click to indicate that.
I dont know what to do can anyone help. PLEASE!!!!!

defroster is fine. Window is fine. License plate lights are fine. the only thing that I have a problem with is the light in the cargo area does not come on when the tailgate is open. It comes on manually but not on the "DOOR" setting.
 
You may want to check one thing. Roll the rear window down a few inches and then rolll it back up.

Once my wiper did not work and I tried this and it worked. What happened is the widow was up, but not all the way. I am talking about a 1/16" off. So it was sealed fine, but the car thought the window was open and the wiper would not work.

There must be a relay switch to tell the car the window is open. If that does not work, it might be the relay switch.

I hope you can fix it.
 
me too its hard to go thru a NY winter without a wiper blade. I will try that again but I have already did the up and down thing many times. You can even hear the realy click when the window is up.

Also, I hope this doesnt sound idiotic but is there only one fuse for the wipers or does the back one have it somewhere else.

Yes it does not sound like it is the window thinking it is open when it is closed.

Sorry I do not know about a rear fuse for that wiper motor.

Post up over on Yota Tech also and see if you can get any better advice....

The relay may click and still be bad. I would replace it.
 
intermittent wiper problems

i have a 2004 4runner limited. recently the intermittent wipers stopped working. they were frozen in the off position and then broke free when i turned them on low. i think that had to be were the problem started. they work fine on low and high, but nothing on intermittent. has anyone had this problem? i've read about a lot of rear wiper problems and some wiper "parking" problems, but nothing about my prob. any thoughts? i'm clueless. could it just be a fuse? seems like they wouldn't work at all? thanks

Not to be a d1ck but i've touched the rear wiper maybe twice over the past 2 CT/NY winters, and that was to see if my rear would shoots fluid. As long as i clear the mirrors off and the windows off before i leave on my trip there isnt any problems with visiblity.
 
Anyone know of a write-up somewhere for replacing the rear wiper motor? FSM says to remove the glass and I'm really not sure how that's done.
 
Removing the glass is kind of a pita. The glass is very large so I would strongly recommend having help. Other than that it isn't too bad, just sequence specific. And if you have window tint you may want to cover the window in newspaper to protect it.

Don't suppose you could point me to a write up perhaps? I don't even know where to start really.

I used my FSM and as usual it had errors and omitted steps. Not sure about a write up though. The glass itself is held in with 4 or 6 bolts and I remember needing to have the window rolled down some to access it. That and needing the window rolled down to remove the weather stripping were the omitted steps.

What was involved in the replacement of the motor. How did you do it? I appears as though the window motor needs to be removed. Is that the case?
