Rear wiper - snapped bolt

Hi all,

So, went to replace the rear wiper arm on my '07, since the old one was bent and didn't really want to touch the glass anymore. Sprayed the heck out of the nut with PB Blaster, turned it - and the whole bolt promptly sheared off flush with the wiper arm. Sigh.

So, my question now - what do I need to take apart/replace to get this fixed? Is the spline/bolt that the arm attaches to part of the whole wiper motor assembly, or is it replaceable separately?

I assume getting to it involves going through the back of the rear hatch?

Yea you’ll need a whole new rear wiper motor - fortunately they aren’t too expensive or too difficult to come by

Should be a relatively easy job. If you havenot taken off your hatch panel before it’ll be a little bit of learning process. YouTube can probably explain it more accurately and clearer than I can, but basically open the rear hatch. Pop off the rope Handle tab and unbolt that. Then you’ll have to slowly separate the bottom part of the trim panel and lift it off the top. Next you’ll remove the weather seal. I believe you’ll have to remove a few rubber covers and then youse a ratchet extension to reach the old motor bolts. Maneuver it out and swap bolt in and reverse the process

Thanks! Yep, I’ve pulled the hatch panel before to install a backup camera, so if that’s all, it shouldn’t be too bad. Thanks for the steps!
Any recommendations on a source for the new motor? Amazon shows up first in a general search (what a surprise), but all the sellers have like 5 reviews, which makes me wonder a bit… Mail order is best for me.

As for spinach - I don’t even like the stuff! ��

I had to replace the motor because I snapped the bolt as well. Here is the motor I ordered from Amazon. Everything went in and works without issue. It's tight working in the hatch but very doable. Good luck.
