Rear Wiper - To delete or not delete?

Hi guys.

I ran a quick search on this (both on Google to catch YotaTech as well) and in the "Search Forum" function here, but haven't found much info taht specifically talks about deleting the rear wiper (but maybe I'm just inept, I dunno).

So I have a few questions about this subject.

1. Would you recommend doing it?

2. Would removing the wiper and nozzle bring about electrical issues, especially concerning the power rear window, or can teh components just be unplugged with no ill effect?

The main reason I am asking is because my rear lift gate (which currently doesn't open) is in excellent condition on my 1997 Limited, except for the rot hole that is located right under the windshield washer fluid nozzle.

I'm going to be looking at getting this fixed at a body shop and was wondering if it would be beneficial to not have them redo the hole to reinstall the nozzle and plug up the hole for the wiper at the same time.

Opinions, suggestions?

I use mine every now and then. It's handy when your rear windshield is covered in mud, dirt or road scum. Personal preference I suppose. I would keep it myself.

I use mine all the time in the winter, good for clearing snow or slush off back window.

When I did my complete repaint I decided to delete mine because it never worked well to clear the rear window anyway. I left the washer nozzle but welded a plug of sheet metal and filler in the place of the wiper arm. At some point though my rear window quit working, just clicks and I assumed it was the rear hatch module that I've read about often on here, but I never got around to check for sure. The motor works as I can "hotwire" it and it goes up and down. Although I've also read that there was something that senses the position of the rear wiper arm and would not allow the window to function if it thought the wiper was not at is "home" position. Never investigated that either, but I saved the wire pigtail off the wiper motor thinking someday if I found the problem was with the wiper arm position I could jump the correct wires to fool it into thinking it was always in the home position and have my window back. Honestly though I think just wiring the switch directly to the motor would be quickest and easiest.
