Rearend Damage

So after work today I figured I would go down to the fire dept and see when I worked for them this week. Well upon backing out of the space I didnt see an old flat black ford ranger behind me and crunch. :bash: Almost tore the entire drivers side of the rear bumper off, smashed the tail light, and broke the bumper reflector. Could have been worse though, the truck I hit was a work truck and the guy was real cool about it. So pretty much I am just responsible for the damage to my T4R. The up side of things is that I dont have to pay for the big dent in his work truck, dont have to file an insurance claim, there isnt any sheet metal damage, and it gives me an excuse to shell out the money for 06 LED tail lights, which I have already done via eBay. So now all that is left to do is have the bumper replaced and painted. I didnt know this, but the 05 Runners rear bumper consists of three pieces ( Right, Center, and Left) so I will get off with only having to buy and paint one piece. Also the bumper reflector is $63 from Partznet. Does anyone know if an 05 fog lamp will fit in its place? The shapes look similar and it would be a cool mod. Pics to come for everyone that has to have pics.

Here are pics as promised. I got an estimate today of $367, not to bad considering.

Dude, that sucks so bad, but hey at least your getting LED tails. If I were you, I'd order an 06+ Rear bumper, I'm sure it will fit and it'd make your 4Runner look even newer, you know.

he'll have to get the other side then too lol !

Don't get the '06 and up bumper like another replier said, it does not match the rest of the vehicle. The fender flares on the bumper are part of the plastic (both designs), and they stick out further than the 03-05 models. It would look silly, and the '06 style fenders are rounded and would extend into the wheel arch. Also, the "top" of the bumper around the sides also sits lower on the '06. I can't really describe it, but if someone points it out you'll see it. I just highly recommend against it.

No offense to that poster, I think you have a bad a$$ ride, I just have OCD and it manifests in my attention to details

Dude, that sucks. I can completely empathize with you. The same thing happened to my 4R (same place and side, too), except that it was a tech at the dealership who backed it into a hydrolic lift arm. :mad:

Don't worry, it will be good as new again. It is amazing what they can do with body work and paint matching/blending nowadays. :)

not bad at all, i'd say! hitting things you'll have to pay for always sucks when it's an accident :/

this is what we brought back from Big Bear this weekend;
