Jiffy lube is so terrible. i have loads of personal stories about horrible experiences, pretty much every time i've ever made the mistake of takign it to a quick lube place.
once they stole the splash guard off my sisters new vw beetle. almost $700 at the dealership for a new one. also droke off the dip stick in the tube that same trip.
once on the road i went to a walmart for an oil change. right as i got to the cashier they received a call from someone complaining that they were just there, and that they forgot to put oil in the engine after they drained it, so they were 2 miles away with a blown engine. needles to say i took my chances on my already 5k mile old oil.
when i first moved out to california, i didnt bring my old oil jug and ****, and wanted a change right when i got here. i bought my own oil and filter and took it to a quick lube to do for me. the next morning thres a puddle under my car and the drain plug was able to be tightened more than 2 turns with just my fingers!!!! oi!
bottom line is if you take your car to one of these places, which are franchises lets not forget, and let some guy who couldnt even get a GED start messing with your car, you better be ready to pay the consequences, and they might be some big ones. those stories are just the better ones that have happened to me personally, working as a mechanic at an independent shop i saw first hand dozens of more serious botches from the gorillas that work at these crappy quick lubes.
