Reason for new tires...

So I was exiting off of Huntington and Monrovia and my truck hydroplanes off the exit from the freeway...I go over a island hit a rock and this is the end result...no one was hit but my back hit the seat really hard and now I'm in major pain...time to get those new tires eh? Thank god I didn't hit anyone and no one got hurt. Isn't anything major but still...:happens:

Does that rear door still seal at the top? Looks like it's bowing out a bit.

The control arm mount looks like it may have been bent or cracked by that impact, just make sure it's ok.

yeah just went out to check the control arm again, it's fine didn't crack or shift luckily for me. the door is out a little bit, still closes but when I open it it pauses for a bit then with a little more force it opens. Going to go to a body shop and get an estimate on it.

How many miles on those? I have 70k on mine. They were fantastic in the water when new, especially compared to the OE Goodyear Wranglers. Those POS would hydroplane in anything. I will be changing mine out shortly, probably for the Michelin LTX M/S2 since they don't make the Cross Terrain in 265/70/R16 anymore.

that stinks, a set of slidders would have prevented the rocker and door damage. Im sure ins. will cover it.

major bummer man!!!!!! maybe a b.f.h. can help sort out the lower sill and get the door to come in at the top, i wouldn't recommend it though unless you worked with sheet metal before and know how it's going to deform when smacking it about.


i assume your not going to turn it in huh? personally i wouldn't i don't think the deductible would be much less then the cost to fix it. it's just reworking the lower sill there and the door most likely isn't damaged just askew, maybe the hinges, but really not too much work needed there.

and your right didn't think it was worth calling it in for insurance, I did manage to fix the door a little bit with a hammer now it opens and closes fine just the top and bottom are a little bit misaligned. Other than that the bottom I'm not reallly going to try and mess with it or have it fixed I'll consider it a battle scar lol.

Glad nothing major happen to you. I had that happen before and it is pretty scary. It was on an old Isuzu trooper it happen twice on the same offramp in San Diego!

So I was quoted about $5,000 for new control arm and to fix the door. The insurance should be able to cover it, I'll find out in the new few days when the insurance agents calls me.

Cover it under insurance and buy a door and a control arm off CL or a Salvage Yard and get it painted, pocket the other $3k+.

So I found out that my insurance doesn't cover collision which is lame...I told my dad before all this happened 2 months prior to get me fully covered but didn't think it would be worth it lol. So I found a body shop that quoted me $450 to fix the door alot better than $5000 from the other shop that wouldnt to change out the control arm saying it would be necessary to fix the door which from the looks of it is complete bs. Hopefully I can get this done within the next few weeks will post results when I can.
