Rebuilding outer cv joint?

So, one boot has a small hole in it from taking the boot slide mod too far, and the other has been popped off the larger side of the boot for about a month now. I just got these axles from CVJ in June, so I'd rather not just go out and buy new part store axles. Therefore, I'd like to clean out the joint thoroughly (its been down a few trails and submerged with the boot popped off) and reboot.

The inner boots/joints are still good so i dont want to have to tear them apart. My problem is I cant find anyone who has only done the outer joint. Most take the route of taking the inner joint apart then sliding the new boots down from the innner side of the axle as seen here:

So, three questions:

1. Is it possible to knock the outer joint off of the axle at all?

2. Any suggestions/methods of cleaning the old grease and grime out?

3. Been looking into the Porsche 930 boots and found these.

Any input on Empi's quality?

TIA!

I don't remember if there's a snap ring inside the outer joint or not. I think I tried at first to take off each end and the outer didn't want to come so I did everything from the inner side.

Allpro sells extended CV boots for 30$ a pop

Yea, I believe the Empis i listed are similar to the high angle boots some companies sell, but at a fraction of the price

Thats what I was afraid of. The FSM only lists how to disassemble it from the inner side, but still hoping someones been able to wrestle it off.
