Recalls and the 4Runner

I read a lot; up very early, retired, etc., several automotive sites and news sites.

It struck me this morning how MANY cars/trucks/suvs/et al are getting recalls. Hell, there are daily recalls from someone ..... every.damned.manufacturer.on.the planet. I mean it's Porsche, BMW, Audi, Ford, Chevy, Volvo, Honda, Suby .....

So then I'm thinking how some of us carp about our 4Runners being dated, old school, to slow, blah blah blah.

So, in this "day of the recall", just how many have we had? There must be SOMETHING, eh? I can't think of any.

Yeh, I'll take it.

The big one is the Takata passenger air bag recall. The accelerant becomes corrupted from heat and humidity over several years (the number of which depends on where the 4R lives) and basically turns its canister into a little bomb, sending fragments into the passenger's face.

At least 21 people have died worldwide and over 180 injured. Source

That's not something that Toyota themselves made, though, and it affects other automakers as well.

I don't know. Not sure I can trust a vehicle that has faulty tips. :bluejump:

My 2013 BMW had 7 in 4 years..

- Driveshaft falling out at speed

- Injectors failing

- Rocker cover leaking

- Excessive oil consumption - a quart every 400miles lol!

- Vacuum pump failure

- Over stretched timing chain

- Airbags

The only "recalls" the 4Runner has is old men, still driving their original vehicles, recalling old stories of what they did foolishly and survived
