reccommended engine work on a "new" 2000 SR5?

Greetings.. I just bought a 2000 SR5, and I wanted to make sure the engine is running as well as it can be. It has 132,xxx miles on it right now. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should have my mechanic look at? I must admit that I'm not the best when it comes to engines, so any input is greatly appreciated.

I have no records of previous maint. or repairs, so I'm not sure what's been done, although the engine is insanely clean. (Cleaner than some new cars I looked at.)

At 90,000, the timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioners, and other drive belts should have been changed. May want to also check the plugs, wires, clean the throttle body and flush the radiator.

You may also want to also drop the tranmission pan and see how the fluid and screen look. If they look good, get a "through the valve-body" transmission flush with new fluid (synthetic if you want to), and drain and refill the gear oil in the front and rear diffs and transfer case.

If our not sure the last time all this was done it will guarantee that everything is up to date and keep it running strong.

Thank you for the quick reply. After this, when should the next service take place? Not counting oil/filter changes.

Also, about how much should I expect all that to run me? (Don't really feel like getting ripped off.)

If you take it to be done, I would guess about $600-$900 for the timing belt and associated accessories. I just flushed my tranny and changed the gear oil with all synthetic amsoil - cost $200 for the fluids and another $120 for the flush. Plugs are cheap, $4 each or so , wires are about $50 from the dealer. Cleaning the throttle body is easy and if you take it to get done will be inexpensive (maybe an hour labor).
