I'd say try and give the dealer a call. they actually did mine last week (well before i got the letter ) was in for other service and they mentioned my 02 was affected and was able to do it that day. so i guess some dealers are doing it.

I just bought an 02 and took it to a Houston area dealer for a check-up and they replaced mine. I had no scheduled appointment and it took about 2 1/2 hours with free coffee included!

Great experience so far.

When it comes to recalls, you don't have to wait for the letter. All you have to do is call any service dept and they will look up via VIN #. If you are in range, you should be able to make an appt. all FREE

I just traded a 2003 tacoma prerunner in for my 2002 sr5 4runner. 3 days before I traded my tacoma in I had the recall done and so I asked the stealership if I would have to do the same with the 4runnner. They said yes and I have to spend 3 hours on sat having it done. I hadnt recieved a notice in the mail though.
