Recent Build Dates vs actual Delivery Date

I place my order on 2/9 for an ORP with moonroof and KDSS. To this day, I have not gotten a build date.
The dealer has not received any updates from Toyota. I emailed Toyota and the refer me back to the dealer. No help at all.
The dealer said the KDSS may be causing the delay. They had another order recently for one without KDSS and it went through. It's frustrating but at least I still have my 2015.

Dealer took your money without having a car allocated to them...

I'd find a different dealer if I were you.

Hello, just curious if you have got your car yet and where you are at? I placed a order for a limited on 3/27 and they sent me paper work showing order on 3/29. I was told 10 week delivery and the first week of may was told build date was 5/19. The car hit the port on 6/8. I have not got a update since 6/7 saying it was hitting port. I’m in Indianapolis and wasn’t sure how much longer the wait will be.

If your car is on the same boat as mine, expected dock date of 6/7, I have been updated that the boat is sitting outside of Long Beach and won't be able to dock until 6/17 due to Port delays.

I'd find a different dealer if I were you.

It doesn't explain how they got an order in for a non KDSS version if they did not have an allocation.
The local dealers around here are not very helpful.
I checked with another dealer the next state over and they took the time to answer my questions. They told me it could be 6-8 months for an order.

Anyone know a Toyota contact that can help and not refer me back to the dealer?

From my understanding, build orders weren't possible when I started looking late May/early June. I finally got the color/trim I wanted (cement gray/trail edition 4x4) and they have said it will arrive at the port on July 13 and should be at the dealership ready within 2-3 days. I'm in Austin but bought the truck in Houston which helps the timeline since it's super close to where it's being delivered/processed. I'm antsy to get more details but just counting down the days...

Talked to an Ohio dealer on 4/29 who had a 21 TRD ORP the color I wanted and pretty much everything else how I wanted with moon roof, all weather liners, cargo tray, etc on the way from the factory. It was built on 04/21 and they told me it would probably be at the dealership in the middle of June. They called me on 6/17 to inform me it was in. I'm love my new 4runner, although I'm tipping toeing around that whole mod rabbit hole I'm likely to fall in soon.

No update. Dealer is still waiting on Toyota for a build date.
However, they were able to get a build date for a non kdss last month.

I have the VIN and was able to find an allocation slot with 95% of everything I wanted...got lucky for sure...

Now we wait...will update with any new data and/or delivery date. Dealer thinks mid to late June.

Update...the car made it to the dealer late last week. Travel out to the Dealership this Friday to pick it up. This includes an additional 10 day wait sitting out in the ocean in Long Beach waiting to get unloaded.

Delivery date got pushed back to July 19-26th. Also shows Truck Shipment | Estimated | July 21st. Not sure if that means it's expected to get loaded onto a truck on the 21st or if the estimated delivery date is the 21st.

I put a deposit down on a 21 TRD Pro (Lunar Rock) a few weeks ago (mid June). The original buyer backed out and I lucky enough to get the call. The dealer is saying it will be delivered mid to late August. No firm date yet.

I'm impatiently waiting as I already sold my 20 Tacoma to take advantage of the crazy resale values at the moment.

I put down my $500 deposit on a Trail edition 4x4. I was told it would take around 1-2 months, but by the looks of the previous posts, seems like it will take longer. I ordered the bare minimum of the trail model. There’s one exactly like the one I ordered that, around 200 miles away, but can get sent to my local dealership. Only problem is, it has the “premium audio” package, raises the MSRP by around $1350. Should I just get that? Or wait for my order?
