Recommendation for shocks

Looking for suggestions for new shocks - I have a 98 SR5 4Runner with
101,000 miles 3.4L with original shocks still on. This is my daily driver with 98% being on pavement. It has Michelin 265/R70 16 radial tires. It will be towing a small boat (approx. 3K Lbs)

If all your doing is daily driving I used KYB Monomax, and they worked very well.

I just put on KYB Monomax's last week... and the truck still on jackstands :crybaby: My original shocks and springs had 250 thousand lol. I really hope they are as good as people say they are. We found the best deal at www.tirerack.com

I just replaced my shocks on my 98 with bilstein 4600, and most of my driving is on pavement. They ride well, much better over rough pavement and speed bumps than my old worn out stock stuff.

Having driven the 4Runner three times now, the shocks and springs are so much better than the old ones!

The new springs and shocks along with new sway bar end links front and rear makes my truck so smooth! :car:

It is also 0.5" taller than my dad's 4th gen with an OME lift.

For stock springs KYB gas a just are great, ride well and last a long time.

I was going to order the Bilstein 4600's this winter and change them in the spring. At 141k miles I wouldn't think the springs are "worn out" since 99% of the miles have been pavement. 1% gravel roads in Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota...

Thoughts or suggestions?

Bilstein's are definitely a good choice. If budget is not a problem, go with OME.
