Recommended Cold Air Intake for 2006 4Runner Sport

I was wondering what everyone recommends or considers the best replacement cold air filter for the 2006 4Runner Sport Edition.

Does any one have pics of their cold air filters installed?

Popular options are the Toyota TRD CAI and the K & N CAI. I think these are only for the V6, not sure about the V8.

I have the K&N intake on my 2005 v8 Sport. It sounds great and seemd to add a little more power when I put it on.

I would either look into the TRD CAI or the AFE CAI Stage 2 system. If you went with the AFE CAI, I would definitely go with the Grey (which is the dry filter and is oil free) colored filter.

K&N also makes CAI's for both the V6 and V8's. I, personally, am not a big fan of the K&N intake bc of the open and uncovered filter.

I have the K&N Cold Air Intake installed on my V6 and love it but for a probably better option you could go with a TRD although the K&N still gets the job done. guitar3:You should be prepared for awesome engine noise!:guitar3

Definitely agree with Mike. Don't quote me on this, but I'm almost positive that AFE makes the TRD CAI. The only difference being that the AFE just doesn't have that "TRD stamp of approval" shown on the intake itself.

Speaking of power, has anyone here ever Dyno'ed their 4Runner before and then after installing a CAI??
I have always wondered just how well the horsepower increase claims the manufacturers of these filters make actually measure up to the reality of a dyno test.

i have the trueflow xdi but be prepared, under full throttle it is really loud. You can hear clips on youtube.

I'm running a TRD CAI and think it's the way to go. I definitely prefer the enclosed oversized filter vs. exposed, especially since I wheel with my truck.

I recently installed the TRD CAI in my 2006 V6, and I am very pleased with the sound and noticeable increase in power. I used to drive a BMW 540i Sport with aftermarket tuning (350hp+), and I don't miss it at all...

Check eBay for TRD CAI... I bought mine for $280 (free shipping), and saw few more.
