Recommended shop in the Boston/Providence area ?

I'm in the same boat. I've been to a couple places I didn't like (Broadway gas in Cambridge, Herb Chambers on Brighton Ave), and most recently went to Watertown Toyota for warranty work, which was slow but overall fine. They did the airbag, which I guess is nice, since I didn't even know my region was up yet. I think next time I need something not covered by warranty I'm going to check out the Cartalk shop (Good News Garage in Cambridge).
For warranty work, I wouldn't mind going to most dealers. But, it's still risky: I brought my 4Runner to one dealer last year for an oil change and they diagnosed a failing CV joint as part of their free check. I had to correct the service guy that it was just one tire rubbing at full cock. That was Prime Toyota in W. Roxbury, VFW Parkway. They do have great rates on oil changes, with coupons, so I still go there for that. They also wash the truck for free.
As for other recomendations:
1. West Cork Auto: Jamaica Plain. Patrick, honest guy, owner/jmechanic, for general work on anything.
2. Cityside Garage: Holliston. I used to go there for my Rover work, they know their stuff. Alan, owner/mechanic, I think has retired but the rest of the crew are good for all work, including custom mods.
3. BDR Automotive: Hooliston. Brian, an ex-Cityside guy, knows his stuff, Rover fanatic.

Yeah the Watertown dealership replaced my 4wd actuator along with a failed ABS sensor. I'm not at all conviced the actuator was bad, since I'd been happy shifting in and out of 4 until the ABS sensor went, but hey it was free.

Yeah, I am in the same boat. Bought the car at Woburn Toyota, but they seem so overwhelmed, I am hesitant at getting my car serviced there. Maybe once they open up their new building things will get better. On the other hand, I have also been to Toyota of Watertown and did not like their sales team and or manager, but I cannot comment on their service. I also was less than pleased with Boch Toyota. Went to look at some used 4 runners there, and all were being used by staff and had coffee cups, cigarette ashes, and dirty laundry in them. I guess it was good because I ended up buying new for just a couple thousand over what they were asking for their used fleet.

There is a guy in Woburn that usually services Subarus but he is really honest and gets great reviews. His name is Alberto at Motive Auto Works. I am considering calling him to install my suspension. Good luck OP.

Just made an appointment for my Fj TRD Pro suspension upgrade. Spoke with Brad and he was very nice on the phone. They are giving me a free loaner car as well. Stoked. :banana:

Are they the same shop who installed you Bilstein TRD pro shocks on your 4runner? Can you bring your own parts and they can install it for you? Thanks
