OK! my going on vacation July 2 through the 9th in Carova Beach NC.I like to be prepared for what ever my come my way.I'm looking at getting some recovery gear. Thinking about D shackles ARB snatch strap rated 17000 lb.Does anyone have any opinions ? snatch strap,Kinetic ropes, tow strap and how much weight rating? I've never been stuck but there is a first time for everything especially since my wife might be leaving early and she just can't drive the 4runner. She almost got stuck last year and if she does I want to make sure she has some thing to help her get out.If she has a rope or strap she can always find someone to pull her out.Probably won't need it but better safe than sorry. A winch is a little pricey right know but this year.

I use a procomp recovery strap. If you are looking to do recovery with it then you need to use a Snatch strap, recovery strap or kinetic rope. Avoid a tow rope as the do not stretch or designed for recovery purposes. I have heard people having with the Pro Comp straps but mine has served me well for a few years. I would suggest ARB or Viking since those seem to be two of the top brands right now. You can get them in a recovery kit that will come with Tow, recovery and tree straps along with gloves and other items. I also suggest going with a 3" even though a 2" is usually sufficient most of the time. It is a matter of not just your vehicle size but also the size of vehicles you might need to recover.
