Red Bumper Lenses Into Back-up Lights???

Is this possible, to put back up lights in their place?
So when you put the vehicle in reverse it turns them on.

They're not very useful for backup lights...

But there's room under the bottom of the hitch for a set of these low profile backup lights... I'm thinking of installing a set.

Here's another guy who used similar lights until his trailer tongue ate one of the lights. He found cheap replacements at Wally World.

I was thinking of using a relay switched on by the front driving lights to turn on lights in those things. Daytime driving lights are nice to improve your visibility to other drivers so that is why I also want to set up the ones in the rear to come on. Gonna have to go to the junkyard to find some small lights to fit in those lenses.

reverse lights

Is it possible/safe just to put brighter back up bulbs were the existing reverse lights are? If so what do you guys recommend.

Designtech does make 50W halogen replacements for most cars that are available at autozone, pepboys, etc.. but I've not seen the bulb type for the 4runner.

Drawback to using the stock backup lamps is that the backup light is somewhat small, and being integrated in the taillamp housing, it's mounted high... the aux backup lamps put out a much brighter/wider beam so you can actually SEE when backing.
