So, yesterday morning I started my 2001 4Runner Sport in my driveway to warm it up. Went back inside to feed my dogs and make a cup of coffee. Walked out the door for work less than 10 minutes later to leave and there was a red waterfall coming off the back of my skid plate (my driveway is sloped and the front was higher). Since I have the luxury of owning multiple vehicles, I moved it to the street and took my other car to work (2012 Mazdaspeed 3) and searched more thoroughly when I got home. After crawling around under it with a flashlight and not seeing anything obvious, I popped the hood and it turns out the leak (which I assume was pretty severe based on the rate of the leak I saw) was coming from where the upper radiator hose connects back to the engine (see attached pictures). These pics were taken about 12 hours after "the waterfall." I was planning on replacing the radiator with a Koyo today and having a full flush done before this happened.
Back story: bought it Feb. 9, 2013 from original owner with 158,000 miles. Had timing belt, water pump, thermostat, etc replaced Feb 21, 2013 at a Lexus dealer where previous owner worked. Red coolant waterfall Mar 1, 2013. Looking under radiator cap, lot of mineral build up present in radiator but no indication of strawberry milkshake. Coolant reservoir went frofm above the Full line before waterfall to below the Low line after the waterfall. Talked to the Lexus dealer today and they said that the earliest they would be able to think about doing anything would be Monday (I talked them and asked that they tow it back to the dealer to find the problem under the assumption it was some sort of mistake during the timing belt service).
I was unable to find any threads that addressed this, so any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
