I put this on my build thread, but thought others may have similar stories
This was part of our Christmas Eve:
We got into my inlaw's just as the winter storm hit. There was already 5-6" of snow on the ground and we were getting 5+" More. My brother in law and his wife and 2 daughters were up from Louisville as well. I brought up the idea of doing some red-neck sledding.
My step-father in law has his own body shop and built a newer Jaguar XJ8 for my Mother in Law. He had a spare hood in his parts barn he said we could use.
My brother in law and I took the 4R to the barn (on the property) and pulled the hood out. I tied my tow strap to the 2" reciever of my 4R and the other end to the front center of the hood (pretty large). He decided to take the first run and we'd make a path for everyone to run on. The trail took about 4 miles overall. Through their woods and yard, though a big snow drift and ravine, and out into a corn field (where we could open it up and really get going). The Corn field was really hilly and gave that much more of an excitement factor, up and over hills sideways, down over a ravine, up another and down.
It was just like skiing, whereas the rider(s) would sling out by the side of the 4R and you could look out the driver's window and look directly at them, then you flip the steering wheel and slingshot them around to the other side.
We did this for 2 hours or so. Everyone who drove by (country road) either stopped and watched or slowed down and honked. We were frozen afterwards and had to grab the Bourbon and hit the outdoor Hot tub.
The 4Runner made me pround. The thing is a beast in the snow and the nasty terrain never gave it a problem, even when busting drifts.
We got a couple pictures before the camera died (mother in laws), but we are planning on going out again in a day or two, we'll take some ourselves to post up.
