Refreshing my 10 year old lift kit

Hey everybody. I put a lift on my 3rd gen 4runner 9 years ago, and at the time the only thing available was Tundra TRD springs with Tundra Specific 5100s.

I know that within the past few years Bilstein has released a 5100 specifically for the 3rd gen 4runner /Taco, which is awesome.

Does anyone know if my "old" Tundra TRD springs will work with the "new" 4Runner specific shocks? Or should I just go Tundra again? I have a winch and bumper, so a good bit of extra weight.

I think you would be better off with the Tundra shock, I believe they are longer extended and they would handle the taller coil and added weight you have better. The 4R Billy 24-249730 is only good for 2" of lift beyond stock. Sonoran steel supplied me with Tundra Billy shocks and springs about 10 years ago and I had one leak 4 years later, they are lifetime warranty after they inspect it to insure there was no damage to the shock body and shaft by installer, the match for it was 24-188265 they have 5 notches, (apparently even Steve switched these up over the years) so you might need to do some digging and measuring to get the same ride height if you can't find the same shock you have, I think there was some part # changes over the years. The Tundras worked well on my plow truck which also has a m8000 winch hidden, its a lot of weight with a 500lb hydraulic plow hanging off the front. Costa Rica is a beautiful place, I was lucky to see it 20 years ago, didn't wanna leave!.

so your springs are 9 years old , on a 4runner. For me if I had the money I would at least do front springs rather then mounting old ones. Well unless I had my own mcpherson type strut/spring compressor where I could change out for no cost
