Im running a stock v8 2005 4runner with 275/70/17, I was wondering if anyone was re gearing in this size range and if so to what?

I don't think anyone has re-geared for that size range, especially with the V8. I know a lot of people run 33's (your's are ~32.2") with no re-gear. I'd say your fine. No need to spend all that money.

I agree, not that it couldn't be done but it's probably not necessary.

I figured it wouldnt be a huge deal, just wanted to see what yall have been doing. Im getting ready to throw in ARBs so I thought now is the time to ask.

If I were putting in ARB lockers I would regear while I was in there. You will notice a power lose otherwise and you are obviously going to be off road since you are putting in lockers so lower gears will be helpful. I would do it since everything will be apart and the additional expense will be minimal. I noticed a slight power lose on mine just going to 265/70/17 BFG all terrains. Off road tires are a lot heavier/taller and need more gear.

Well if you are doing front and rear lockers your probably pretty serious into the off-roading thing. So, if you plan on getting bigger tires in the future, then ya I would go ahead and consider some gears while you are putting the arbs in. If you are sure you are going to stay with that size tire or less, then I would say forget the gears.

If your willing to assume that cost, then I would. Next time around you can get bigger tires, gain clearance & keep your gas mileage. You're pulling the 3rd's anyway, might as well. What gearing? Well depends how big of a tire you will work towards.

For the foreseeable future I will be hovering in the 33 range. It is my dd and I dont see any reason right now to go much larger than that. I have already played the 37inch and larger daily driver game and its not always fun. If i re-gear it will probably be to 4.10.

Thats a good idea, I will have to research that a bit more. ive always run full lockers and been happy, it can be a pita to turn on tight trails though. Given that i have full time 4wd, I am somewhat partial to being able to completely open up my front diff.

Given IFS and lockers typically don't play well together and the reasons you stated it's certainly worth a look.

Some detractors say when a wheel is airborne you'll wish you had the locker. The (4th gen) ATRAC on an open diff is somewhat helpful but not great. However ATRAC giving a nudge to a Torsen is tough to beat... If I could justify it I might do it front and back:D

Very true, anyhow, I will have a little time to dwell on the front axle so Ill keep looking and figure out what I decide to do. CVs are a pita to change.
