Reinforcing the Frame Rail ends

So I have had my ARB on for a few weeks now and I want to add a winch. I have seen many people weld in a piece of angle iron with a bolt through it to the end of the frame rail to take on the wenching force. What thickness of angle iron should I weld in? I was thinking a piece that is 3/16" thick would work with a decent size bolt welded on the inside going through it. Comments? Suggestions?

well you should of done this before you installed the ARB, the easiest and strongest way of reenforcing the frame is to cap it with an end plate. but now your kinda past that unless you wanta take the bumper back off again, well i guess youll have to do that anyways to put the winch in, so id just cap it off/weld a cap or plate over the opening in the frame rail. anything over 1/8" will be fine

And if you can plate down the frame some (a couple of inches)and weld it all together, that will distribute the force on that end cap down the frame rails.

yeah you could do that, i think its kinda over kill, and a little bit harder but if you plan on using your bumper for a "bumper" then it might be a good idea lol
