Hi Guys,

So I am replacing my transfer case in my 97sr5 and while everything is 90% done the front drive shaft is ~2 inches short. I did not change the lift anything and replaced with a similar year similar function drive shaft. The rear went on perfectly.

how do I fix this problem?

Did you compress the drive shaft at all. They have a slip joint that allows for them to expand. You can take a measure of the old vs new to verify the lengths. By the way your shifter cup went out yesterday. I sent the entire shifter since I didn't want to ruin the cup by trying to get it off.

If the rear went on perfectly then the front should be the same unless you changed an angle when mounting the new one. Also as stated in the post above, try to pull the drive shaft slip joint slightly out until it connects. Dont pull it all the way out tho, you dont want to mess up the splines. There should be a slight gap between the two ends tho. )===--=(

So a little yank is all you are saying? Figured but did not want to test it

angle is all the same

Save the yanking for your D.

Give it a light pull and the 2 should start to slide apart exposing the splines. You go to far and the 2 come apart, with one end mounted to the T case, slowly pull the other until it matches the diff and bolt it on. If it falls out then you did something wrong in the process unless that Transmission is a few inches longer than the one you replaced...

You should see some splines when its connected in order to give it travel both directions.

:worthless

Pretty much impossible to mess something up with the install. Even if you clocked the transmission it'll still bolt up with the stock shaft.

i have a feeling that he isnt explaining this right or hasnt bolted the driveline in and extended it to meet the opposite side (diff/transfer case)
